These classes are designed for students who have completed the Intro & Advanced programs and are looking for more specialized improv and sketch training. These will be audition-only courses, and the end result will be a run of shows.

Go U Musical Improv Program | Teachers: Jeremy St. Martin, Gary Lehman

Cost: $750 for entire 22 week program
(Payment plan can be arranged, full amount must be paid before the run of shows in October)

The Go U Musical Improv Program is a 22 week intensive program designed to teach the basics from vocals and musicality, to improvised song structure. The program will go through the fundamentals of singing, voice technique, and vocal health. Music and vocal training will continue into melody, harmony, musical genres, song structure, finding a chorus, doing a bridge, musical short form games, and finally into musical scene work and long form musical improv structure. The class will build its own musical long form to be showcased in a month long run of weekly shows at the end of the 22 week term.

Class will run on Sundays 2-5pm starting in late April. Class meeting dates and weeks off will be set by the teacher and class once they start meeting.

Show dates are October 7, 14, 21, 28.

This is NOT a series of elective classes! Entrance into the program is via audition only. Auditioners are required to have completed Advanced 2 (or equivalent longform training).

The Go U Musical Improv Program is designed to create musical improvisers that will carry on with musical improv following completion of the program, be that in casted shows or the creation of their own troupes. It was designed with the goal of expanding the scope and presence of musical improv in the Detroit Improv Community. Anyone wishing to audition and be placed in the program must commit to the entire 22 week program, and plan on attending all classes. Obviously life happens and classes may need to be missed, and contacting your teacher regarding each absence is required. If placed in the program, we expect you to plan around this commitment when taking on other opportunities. Casual commitment will result in removal from the program.

AUDITIONS for this program have been postponed with the COVID19 outbreak. We will be updating this once we are back in business.

Performance level classes have a strict attendance policy. If a student misses more than two classes, s/he/they will be removed from the program with no refund offered. No class discounts are offered for performance level classes, though we do offer payment plans.
