Performance

These classes are designed for students who have completed the Intro & Advanced programs and are looking for more specialized improv and sketch training. These will be audition-only courses, and the end result will be a run of shows.

Go U Musical Improv Program | Teacher: Jeremy St. Martin
Cost: $250 per 8 week session
(Discount if all paid at once)

The Go U Musical Improv Program is a 24 week intensive program designed to teach the basics from vocals and musicality, to improvised song structure. The program will go through the fundamentals of singing, voice technique, and vocal health. Music and vocal training will continue into melody, harmony, musical genres, song structure, finding a chorus, doing a bridge, musical short form games, and finally into musical scene work and long form musical improv structure. The class will build its own musical long form to be showcased in a month long run of weekly shows at the end of the 24 week term.

This is NOT a series of elective classes! Entrance into the program is via audition only. Auditioners are required to have completed Advanced 2 (or equivalent longform training).

The Go U Musical Improv Program is designed to create musical improvisers that will carry on with musical improv following completion of the program, be that in casted shows or the creation of their own troupes. It was designed with the goal of expanding the scope and presence of musical improv in the Detroit Improv Community. Anyone wishing to audition and be placed in the program must commit to the entire 24 week program, and plan on missing no more than 2-4 classes. This means, if placed in the program, we expect you to plan around this commitment when taking on other opportunities. Casual commitment will result in removal from the program.

AUDITIONS for the Music Program will be held on March 19, 2019 beginning at 7PM
Please email jessica@gocomedy.net to schedule your audition

CLASSES will begin Sunday, March 31 (12-3PM) and run on Sundays through October 13.
(With breaks for major holidays, and the Detroit Improv Festival)
Dates for the performances will be set soon, but will likely run 4 weeks on a Tuesday or Wednesday starting at the end of the class run.
